Information Specialist

to support the

National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS)

Rockville, MD.

This position involves managing and disseminating information, conducting research, and providing support to internal teams and external users.Benefits We Offer:Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays401K match up to 5%Educational Benefits for Career GrowthEmployee Referral BonusFlexible Spending Accounts:Healthcare (FSA)Parking Reimbursement Account (PRK)Dependent Care Assistant Program (DCAP)Transportation Reimbursement Account (TRN)Responsibilities:Research and compile information on rare diseases using publicly available resources, databases, and scientific literature.Evaluate, organize, and summarize complex information for internal use or for distribution to the public.Develop and maintain an updated database of resources, including scientific publications, patient support organizations, and advocacy groups.Provide assistance to researchers, healthcare professionals, and the general public by answering information requests via email, phone, or other communication channels.Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely information is disseminated to relevant stakeholders.Document research findings and information requests using a case management system (Salesforce or similar).Assist in updating online resources and digital content to ensure they reflect the latest information available on rare diseases.Ensure all information complies with privacy and data security standards.Identify trends in information requests and develop FAQs or resource guides to address common inquiries.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous learning opportunities to stay informed about the latest developments in rare disease research.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (biology, health sciences, etc.).Minimum 2 years of experience in an information management, research, or support role.Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and synthesize large volumes of information.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and accurately.Experience with Salesforce or similar case management tools is a plus.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.Familiarity with medical or scientific terminology is preferred.Must adhere to NIH guidelines and data privacy standards.Preferred Skills:Experience in a healthcare, scientific, or educational environment.Familiarity with rare diseases or rare disease research.Proficiency with database management and information retrieval tools.Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.Disclaimer:
