Job Description - Research Technician (3306665)Department:

Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology (VCRB), Massachusetts General HospitalDescription:Dr. Edlow’s basic and translational research focuses on neurodevelopmental and metabolic programming effects of maternal immune activation in pregnancy. The work involves both mouse models and human samples. The Research Technician reports directly to the Principal Investigator and is expected to work independently on assigned research with guidance from higher-level lab members.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Perform experiments in a biomedical research laboratory for NIH-funded research.Conduct animal colony maintenance and record-keeping, animal surgery, blood sampling, and injections.Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.Document, analyze, and report results from experiments.Maintain detailed records of all experiments.Collaborate with investigators in other laboratories.Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:Strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry.Precise pipetting skills and basic sample preparation.Ability to work independently and introduce new methodologies.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Education:BS/BA degree with prior formal biomedical research training and/or experience working in a laboratory setting is required.Experience:Some lab experience desirable but not required.Some experience in small animal husbandry and surgery is highly preferred.Working Conditions:Laboratory environment.Location:
