The Department of Pathology is seeking a Transfusion Medicine specialist to join our service, which includes a tertiary care center blood bank, immunohematology reference laboratory, apheresis service, and cellular therapy laboratory.Candidates must possess a M.D. or D.O. and be board-certified in either Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, or in Hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Pediatrics, and additionally board-certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology.Ideal candidates will have experience in clinical transfusion medicine, general knowledge of all areas of transfusion medicine, and interest in developing focused subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas: patient blood management, stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies, histocompatibility, or laboratory coagulation. Fellows are encouraged to apply.The selected individual will join a group of six pathology-based transfusion medicine faculty and will be expected to participate in teaching and research activities. Faculty appointment will be in the Department of Pathology with academic rank commensurate with experience, accomplishments, and track record of achievement. Abundant opportunities to develop and/or participate in basic, applied, and translational research programs exist within Michigan Medicine.
