We provide evidence-based integrated treatment for individuals and families living with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Men come from all over the country for our specialized treatment and we fully integrate both family and community into every stage of the treatment process. We provide an effective healing atmosphere for our participants and fully support them through their journey of recovery. For dually diagnosed men over 18 and their families, our programs provide more than treatment, they provide hope.

SUMMARY:

The Assistant Residential Director supports the director in overseeing the daily operations and goals of the team. The Assistant Residential Director plays a vital role in enhancing productivity and ensuring adherence with regulations and internal policies. The residential program provides assistance to individuals to maximize their recovery, ensure consumer-directed goal setting, assist the individual served to gain hope and a sense of empowerment, and provide assistance in helping the individuals served become respected and valued members of their family and community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily management of the facility and program:

Assist in developing and implementing plans and goals for the team.

Work with the director to coordinate and supervise daily operations.

Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies of the organization.

Collaborate with Residential Director to support license requirements for the residential program.

Monitor the building and grounds for any safety concerns.

Ensure the residence complies with health and safety regulations by conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing measures to reduce risk.

Collaborate with the Residential Director on weather emergencies and emergency preparedness.

Maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA and 42 CFR part I.

Daily management of the clinical environment:

Uphold the modified-therapeutic community principles, serves as a role model and demonstrates accountability to the residential program.

Act as a liaison across all shifts to improve communication, consistency and collaboration.

Oversee the implementation of resident treatment plans, behavioral interventions across all shifts, and crisis protocols overnight.

Respond to emergencies, escalated situations, and staff requests for guidance. Make judgment calls regarding contacting on-call clinician, emergency services, etc.

Model appropriate crisis de-escalation techniques and provide coaching for staff on therapeutic approaches for working with participants on the 2nd and overnight shifts.

Conduct hourly rounds to check in on participants and staff. Assess and report any changes in participants’ status and behaviors.

Ensure incident reports are thoroughly reviewed and follow up is timely.

Oversee inventory to maintain stock levels and order supplies when needed.

Attend Individual and Group Supervision.

Participate in all meetings associated with operations, staffing, and quality assurance.

Contribute to 2nd shift and overnight responsibilities as indicated.

Daily supervision of staff:

Work collaboratively with the Residential Director to plan, implement and manage staffing to ensure required level of service to participants.

Monitor 2nd shift and overnight staff training and orientation while ensuring that administrative supervision, and staff evaluations are completed on time.

Monitor the progress of tasks, ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely completion.

Lead staff to understand and cooperatively undertake actions to meet individual and family’s needs that are strength based and family focused.

Communicate with the management team, providing updates on staff and team progress and discussing any issues or concerns as they arise.

Create reports and submit them to the Residential Director.

Collaborates with the team for holiday coverage.

Attends Leadership in Practice Meeting on a monthly basis.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field required.

2+ years’ experience working in a residential setting.

Awake overnight shift experience preferred.

Strong leadership skills including adaptability, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills to address challenges and streamline processes.

Effective organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through.

Computer skills including but not limited to: Internet access, email systems, word processing, report writing and spreadsheet applications necessary to generate appropriate reports allocated to the position of Awake Overnight Residential Coordinator.

Skill in working and communicating with others as part of a transdisciplinary team.

Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing residential treatment facilities and confidentiality.

Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct and ethical behavior that will enhance the quality of care and encourage positive interactions among staff.

Must have an appropriate motor vehicle to perform duties.

Valid drivers’ license and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage of: 100,000 bodily injury per person/300,000 bodily injury per accident/100,000 property damage.

Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Successful pre-employment drug testing with negative results.
