Assistant Professor for Division of Transplantation Surgery

Position OverviewThe Department of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplantation at the Ohio State University currently has an opportunity for tenure-track faculty at the Assistant Professor level with research interests related to transplant immunology. Responsibilities include:Contributing to a cohesive transplant immunology program and collaborating with other leaders in immunology.Serving as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and original research projects.Conceptualizing, planning, designing, implementing, and conducting research studies in transplant immunology.Developing and writing grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support the research program.Securing and maintaining NIH R01 or equivalent funding.Writing and publishing research in high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journals.Attending and presenting research at national and international scientific conferences.Instructing and mentoring junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees.Participating in division, department, college, and university committees and initiatives.RequirementsPhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research and transplant immunology required, with considerable experience in immune activation and immune tolerance.Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific peer-reviewed journals preferred.Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01).Academic experience is a plus.Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
