Postdoctoral Training PositionThe Developmental Vascular Biology Group is part of the Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Health, in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences. We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow eager to contribute to groundbreaking research in vascular biology, immunology, and visual diseases in newborn infants. Our lab is well-funded through NIH and institutional support, providing a robust platform for innovative scientific discovery. Dr. Faizah Bhatti is an MD clinician-scientist and senior PI in the group.Research FocusThe focus of our research program is to better understand how inflammation increases the risk of abnormal blood vessel development in prematurely born infants and ultimately find ways to prevent complications related to vascular dysgenesis. The Developmental Vascular Biology Group is housed in a state-of-the-art 860 sq foot laboratory supported by OUHSC central imaging, histology, genomics, and data science cores. We actively participate in clinical trials involving therapeutics and clinical aspects of ROP in neonatal subjects at the OUHSC Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma.ResponsibilitiesPlan, design and conduct research experiments.Manage research projects.Prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation and future research.Contribute to grant writing and are encouraged to write applications for fellowships.Learn the complexities of research lab management.Participate in various lab activities and responsibilities as assigned.They will be expected to work collaboratively and collegially as part of the team while developing skills needed to develop into an independent scientist.QualificationsPh.D. or MD/Ph.D. in a relevant field.Extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology, and transgenic mouse models is required, with a preference for expertise in endothelial cell biology.Work in retinal biology is preferable but not mandatory.Demonstrates strong motivation and self-discipline, combined with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.SalaryCommensurate with experience and guided by NIH Post-doctoral Salary Guidelines.Interested candidates should send their CV along with a brief research statement and contact information for three referees to
