Job Description:

Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, is accepting applications for an adjunct chef instructor in our Culinary Management program to teach classes in Culinary Principles. This course gives students a working knowledge of the fundamentals of culinary techniques and the scientific principles behind it in a commercial savory kitchen. Students will learn the appropriate cooking methods that may be applied to meats, fish, poultry, starches, and vegetables. The basic cooking methods are introduced and practiced in the laboratory. Students will also learn the proper techniques used in the preparation of stocks, soups, and sauces. Major hospitality and institutional food service applications will be covered.The adjunct instructor is responsible for demonstrations, lecturing, compiling tests, assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives. This course includes a lab component. This course is hybrid which means lecture material is on-line and lab component is face-to-face.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency.At least 5 years professional culinary experience.At least 5 years prior teaching or training experience.Candidate must be certified to teach on-line through OCC Quality Matters before being assigned to this course.Certified ServSafe Food Protection Manager.Preferred Qualifications:B.S. in Culinary Arts from an accredited academic institution or foreign equivalency.Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.

Additional Information:

Anticipated Hours: This course runs 2nd 1/2 semester 3/17/25-5/21/25. Lab component runs face-to-face Monday & Wednesday 1:35pm - 4:15pm.Applicants must attach to application an unofficial transcript for highest degree received.
