DSL AdjunctGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES : The Associate Dean works under the supervision of the Dean of Humanities and Leadership to teach and serve as an additional administrator for the School, overseeing the DSL program and recruiting for all H&L graduate programs. As a faculty member of WBU, this individual will represent the University’s academic and spiritual emphasis to the students, faculty, staff, and the community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose.

This is a twelve-month position.SPECIFIC TASKS & DUTIES:Prepare and teach eighteen to nineteen (18-19) semester hours each academic year/over 12 months.Maintain regular office hours, M-F, approximately 8:15 AM – 5:00 PM, most days of the workweek, as part of the 12-month contract.Academically advise graduate students and assist with registrations and recruiting events.Actively recruit for all graduate programs (DSL & MA) in the School of Humanities & Leadership.Assist with DSL course rotations, schedules, and contacting adjuncts.Assist the dean and faculty members in developing or updating curriculum, reporting data, selecting textbooks, and developing syllabi.Serve on University, Faculty, and School Committees as assigned.Attend graduations, scheduled faculty/staff meetings, and school events.Actively participate in scholarship opportunities that contribute to the field of leadership.Develop a familiarity with and adhere to university policies and procedures related to academics and the School of Humanities & Leadership.Maintain a high level of confidentiality.The above statements are not a complete list of responsibilities and duties performed by employees in this position. Employee may perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean of the School or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.QUALIFICATIONS:A commitment to and an agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas/Texas Baptists in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.Education:Earned Doctorate in Leadership (or closely related field) from a Regionally Accredited Institution of Higher Education is required.Leadership coursework, teaching experience, and the ability to teach leadership and graduate-level research are required.Experience and Knowledge:A minimum of three (3) years in an administrative role or leadership experience in an academic setting.Recent experience teaching graduate-level leadership and/or research courses in a college or university setting.Teaching or course development in an online environment/platform.Additionally, preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following qualifications:Previous experience teaching in a doctoral program.Administrative experience overseeing a graduate or doctoral program.Skills and Abilities:The ability to recruit and market our graduate programs.Evidence of the successful online teaching of leadership at a graduate level.Fluency in the English language with impeccable writing and speaking skills.The ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with little direct supervision.Proficiency with computers, technology, and related educational/classroom equipment.A strong interest in teaching and leading in the growth and development of graduate students.The ability and desire to apply Christian principles in the workplace.Evidence of scholarship (awards, research, coursework, presentations, and/or publications).Additional Requirements:Personal qualities of a strong Christian faith and integrity, and a general spirit of collegiality.Endorsement by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.Able to pass background checks.Wayland is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas/Texas Baptists. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license.
