International Student Specialist

The International Student Specialist is available to students and the campus community to interpret and explain University policies and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing prospective students' financial records and other pertinent documents to determine students' eligibility to obtain a student visa and to attend UCR.Works in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and acts as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in issuing and administering required U.S. government documents to international students. Serves as primary contact for admitted international students, answers incoming calls and email correspondence from international students seeking information about the university and the status of their 1-20 and DS-2019. Offers information and advice about international student services and programs, schedules appointments for in-depth advising, and makes referrals to other appropriate offices as needed.Provides information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures, and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and/or program(s). Utilizes knowledge of federal regulations concerning international students; assists with campus compliance by updating international student records with required information gathered from various sources and entering important details into electronic databases.Updates international student information in the International Student & Scholar Management System (ISSM), in graduate and undergraduate SLATE (CRM) databases, and in Banner with attention to detail and complete accuracy.The full salary range for the International Student Specialist is $24.71 - $41.67. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $24.71 - $27.78 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
