Job Summary:

The Affiliate & International Internships Learning Abroad Coordinator serves as a campus ambassador for Learning Abroad. The Coordinator plays an essential role in efforts to increase student participation in Learning Abroad experiences. They collaborate with academic departments and student affairs to support Learning Abroad experiences. They build and maintain relationships to promote Learning Abroad programming and establish resources and partnerships that advance our mission. They strive to provide students and other stakeholders with the tools and knowledge necessary to have a successful experience abroad and integrate their experience into personal, professional, and academic goals.

The Coordinator demonstrates creative problem solving and long-term project management. They follow through on assignments and tasks reliably and efficiently. They are the main point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders related to Affiliate programs. They provide accurate and timely responses to inquiries and are available to provide support for students and departments. They prepare and maintain all things related to the Affiliate portfolio, including but not limited to applicant/student records in accordance with University and Office policy, program budgets and finances, TerraDotta, etc. They are knowledgeable about University resources and policies and provide referrals to other offices when necessary. They exhibit sensitivity to others’ needs while being understanding and helpful on the job.

Responsibilities:

Manages a portfolio of Affiliate programs.

Advises prospective students on Affiliate programs, which includes international internships.

Advises undecided students through Exploratory Advising appointments.

Collaborates with Learning Abroad Director to manage agreements and contracts with Affiliates.

Opens programs to accept applications and assists in enforcing application eligibility and requirements.

Reviews applications and coordinates approval with Affiliates.

Manages data and monitors student completion of application steps before, during, and after the program.

Coordinates campus visits, presentations, and workshops with Affiliate representatives.

Acts as main contact for Affiliate representatives.

Updates Affiliate content on the Learning Abroad website so information is accurate.

Coordinates with Learning Abroad Director to update brochure sites to transparently communicate information to students.

Builds program budgets and liaises with offices for assistance.

Coordinates with Learning Abroad and OGE Risk Management on crisis management by helping with emergency response and implementing approved emergency protocols.

Works with academic advisors and representatives of colleges to gather support for Learning Abroad participation.

In collaboration with OGE and Marketing, promotes programs in different media outlets and target markets to create program awareness and increase participation.

Visits classes, tables at info sessions and events, and advises faculty on other recruiting options.

Manages program evaluations and student feedback and analyzes data for program improvement.

Onboards all new peer advisors and oversees peer advisor training.

Supervises one peer advisor who will assist with Affiliate programming throughout the academic year.

Liaises with Hinckley Global Internships and helps promote international internship opportunities.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus three years of experience in developing student programs and services; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Knowledge of global political and economic situations and demonstrated human relations and organizational skills are essential elements for this position. Experience working or studying abroad is highly desirable.

Master’s Degree is preferred, as is a background that includes the ability to market concepts of international education.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences:

Study abroad or international experience.

A master’s degree in a relevant field.

Experience in marketing and recruiting for study abroad programs.

Experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion work in higher education and/or education abroad.
