The Department of Medicine's Division of Nephrology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks a Research Scientist to work in the lab of Rahul Sharma, PhD. Dr. Sharma has a mature research laboratory. This position will independently lead in the performance of daily laboratory techniques, documentation of data, provide hands-on training for pre- and post-doctoral trainees, and contribute to scholarly publication. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills as evidenced by a solid track record of scientific manuscripts and presentations.The ideal candidate should have proven experience in immune-mediated mechanisms in diseases related to kidneys and pancreas. In particular, the candidate should have expertise in performing long-term survival surgeries for kidney injury and fibrosis, pancreatic islet transplantation, generation of tissue organoids, and single-cell transcriptomics analyses. Knowledge of spatial transcriptomic data analysis will be an added advantage.Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Doctoral degree or master's degree with significant experience. Preference given to applicants with post-doctoral research experience.The position will remain open until filled.
