Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the Chief Student Success Officer (CSSO) will serve on the Provost’s cabinet and work with institutional leadership and partners to create and drive a unified approach to student success. They are responsible for directing strategic planning initiatives and establishing student persistence and retention priorities to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources, including bringing resources into alignment across campus. To do so, the CSSO will collaborate across the institution to provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and evidence-based and data-driven evaluation of student success efforts.Two units within the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success (SEMSS) will report directly to the CSSO: The Student Success Center and Pathway Advising. In addition, the CSSO will work closely with units both inside of SEMSS (e.g., Registrar’s Office, Student Financial Services, Office of Undergraduate Admissions) and elsewhere at UWM (e.g., school/college advising and student success units, academic departments, Division of Student Affairs, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning).As a member of the leadership team in SEMSS, the CSSO advises divisional and campus leadership on student success efforts and champions campus stakeholder groups providing persistence and retention program services. The CSSO position is a highly visible role who will often represent the university when identifying, promoting, and maintaining internal and external partnerships. Additionally, the CSSO provides strategic leadership for UWM retention efforts, with ties to the Universities of Wisconsin (UWs) and national organizations related to student success, academic advising, and retention, keeping current with professional trends and best practices.Job Traveling:
