Position Highlights

The College of Health Sciences at the University of Arizona invites applications for a full-time, career track faculty position in the physician assistant program. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual who will contribute to the development of a dynamic academic environment. The successful candidate will join a team of committed educators in preparing the next generation of physician assistants (PAs) for excellence in clinical practice.The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in an appropriate department, actively participate in teaching, accreditation, service and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!

Duties & Responsibilities

Collaboration in all program policies and decision-making processes.Developing, reviewing, and revising, as necessary, the program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program.Participation in the selection process of entering students.Providing student instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program.Evaluating student performance.Providing academic counseling and remediation of students.Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum and program.Service and scholarly activities (e.g., committees, volunteerism, research, professional presentations, etc.).Assist in clinical site development and monitoring as needed.Program principal faculty who serve as course directors have the following additional responsibilities:

Organization of the course.Scheduling of lectures.Analyzing all course related data to ensure that learner outcomes are achieved.Generate an annual report that reflects the strengths and weaknesses of the course.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Computer skills (e.g., Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.).Knowledge regarding all facets of, and participation in, the ARC-PA accreditation process.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree.PAs need a current NCCPA board certification or emeritus certification status. Non-PA applicants, in healthcare specialties, must hold board certification relevant to their field.Licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Arizona.Minimum of 2 years patient care experience in certified profession.

Preferred Qualifications

Professionally related doctoral degree.Teaching experience in a physician assistant program.
