is seeking to hire a

Student Success Specialist . The Student Success Specialist provides support, guidance, and assistance to students to help them reach their academic goals. The position works with students to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and then provides strategies and resources to help them develop their academic skills. The Student Success Specialist also provides guidance on creating academic plans, setting goals, developing study habits, and managing time. This position will also assist students in the identification of factors that may have bearing on academic progress; in navigating and understanding campus services and policies; and in providing day-to-day support in making informed decisions about academic matters, registration, and related topic areas. This position is part of the Student Success team.This is an on-campus, 12 month position.The normal annual salary for this position is

$43,888

depending on skills and experience. The University System provides competitive

The University System is also a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers wellness programs.Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:Provide support and guidance to students in developing academic skills and habitsAssist students with goal setting and tracking progress towards those goalsCreate and implement individual and group instruction sessionsDevelop and implement assessment plans for individual studentsProvide feedback and accountability to studentsProvide guidance to students on course selection and extracurricular activitiesMotivate and build strong relationships with studentsIdentify individual student needs and develop plans to address themRespond to student advising needsAssess, coordinate, identify, and use intervention strategies based on best practices for serving at-risk studentsWork collaboratively with faculty and staff to monitor student success using processes such as Early Alerts, behavioral progress (BAST team), academic standing, accommodation plans and Student Academic Progress (SAP)Assist students in navigating and understanding campus services and policiesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degreeStrong customer service and interpersonal skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detailKnowledge and skill with technology including computer software programs for data collection, decision-making, and communicationAbility to motivate and mentor studentsProblem solvingPreferred:Experience working with first generation and at-risk student populations2 years’ experience working in higher educationApplying for positionTo apply click on “Apply Now” below or visit the UMFK Careers Page at
