Pennsylvania-PittsburghThe Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the position of Director of the Polish Studies Program, pending budgetary approval. The appointment will be made at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor and will begin in the fall of 2025.Duties include:Teaching Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Polish language, as well as Polish or Polish-comparative literature, cinema, and culture in English at the undergraduate level.Non-teaching duties include oversight of Polish cultural and outreach activities in accordance with programming goals identified by the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures.Scholarly publication and active participation in national professional associations are encouraged but are not a prerequisite for appointment or renewal.Minimum Requirements:A PhD in Slavic or a related field (preferably with a specialization in Polish second-language acquisition) is required by the appointment start date, as are native or ACTFL superior proficiency in Polish and English and teaching experience at the university level (preferably at an Anglophone institution). Proficiency in other Central European languages, literatures, and cultures is desirable but not a prerequisite.
