Job Summary:

The Information School (iSchool) at UW-Madison is focused on education and research that expands society's understanding of the role of information in all aspects of science, nature and humanity. We educate students and pursue work that adds to the collective knowledge, productivity and innovation, and to the well-being of people, communities, and society.

The iSchool at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks up to 2 dynamic professionals to join our team as a Teaching Faculty I.

The positions will be responsible for teaching in and further developing the iSchool's curriculum and programming. This person(s) will teach online and in-person courses as part of the iSchool's academic programs.

We encourage candidates to apply who have a developed understanding of meeting the needs of students with a broad range of technical expertise and experience. Well qualified candidates will have a strong knowledge of information science and information infrastructures such as websites, databases and metadata and an understanding of the social impacts and social shaping of information infrastructures. Well qualified candidates will have strong knowledge in topics such as securities, data visualization, data mining and coding. Further, well qualified candidates will have a strong grasp of relevant applied skills and tools.

Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.5% Assists in developing techniques and/or model programs for carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary area and may help identify ways in which new techniques could be of assistance5% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements5% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy70% Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading5% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties10% Support department initiatives in curriculum and program development and implementationEducation:

Required:Terminal DegreeMasters in Library and Information Studies or terminal degree in related field

Preferred:PhDQualifications:

Required:- Demonstrated success teaching at the postsecondary level both online and in person.

Preferred:- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with programs and prospective students from two-year colleges.- Ability to teach a broad range of classes in computing, cybersecurity, and interactions between social structures and information technologies.- Position 1: Experience teaching basic computing, Python, database, data visualization- Position 2: Experience teaching Cybersecurity with a focus on human factors in cybersecurityWork Type:
