Our primary goal is to translate molecular insights from the tumor and tumor microenvironment into innovative clinical tools for predicting cancer risk, prognosis, and response to targeted therapies. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, passionate about cancer biology, and possesses excellent organizational and time management skills. The role requires precise interpretation of instructions and adherence to protocols, as well as the ability to work efficiently, both independently and collaboratively.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct experiments and analyze data:

Conduct tissue staining experiments, including immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization, as well as mammalian cell culture experiments, such as cell passaging, wound healing assays, migration assays, and drug treatments.Data management:

Conduct basic data analysis, maintain accurate records, and manage experimental data.Collaboration:

Interact with and assist collaborating investigators, while maintaining effective communication.Training and supervision:

Orient and train new personnel, and help supervise undergraduate students.Inventory and supplies:

Oversee and monitor laboratory inventory to ensure the availability of reagents and supplies.Equipment and safety:

Maintain equipment performance, ensure research safety, and comply with all relevant regulations and protocols.JOB REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree required.College level courses in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and/or laboratory sciences are also required.EXPERIENCE:One year experience in a laboratory setting preferred.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Knowledge of safe handling procedures of hazardous materials.Ability to learn and integrate procedures and knowledge relating to lab protocols and techniques under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Lab Supervisor.Good computer skills, including data entry and use of spreadsheet and/or database.Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks as dictated by the research schedule.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to exchange information with Principal Investigator and other members of the laboratory.Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, (e.g. pipetting, use of microbalance), serial dilutions, and enthusiasm to learn new skills.General understanding of translational and clinical research and the federal requirements for ethical patient treatment.JOB BENEFITS:Competitive payTuition reimbursement and tuition remission programsHighly subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance optionsCareer Advancement/Professional Development: Access a wealth of ongoing training and development opportunities that will not only enhance your skills but also expand your knowledge base especially for individuals pursuing careers in medicine or biomedical research.Pioneering Research: Engage in groundbreaking research projects that are driving the forefront of biomedical science.ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:As the primary teaching hospital for Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and BU schools of public health and dentistry, intellectual rigor shapes our inquiries.
