This includes managing the class in face-to-face classroom and local Therapeutic Recreation settings as well as in the online environment. Requirements and Preferences

Minimum Experience/Education

Applicants must have a current recreation therapy license in the state of North Carolina (see NC Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure.) Other requirements include a minimum of a Master's degree in a related discipline and teaching experience at the college level.

Department Required Skills

Effective use of technology, primarily educational platforms such as Canvas, is important for the applicant. In addition, applicants must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities of the position are to teach core Therapeutic Recreation courses for undergraduate students. This includes managing the class in face-to-face classroom and Therapeutic Recreation settings. Instructors will need to have an understanding of local resources for engaging students in the community for the practicum component. Instructors must also ensure syllabus, learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessments meet program and university standards. Instructors may be asked to collaborate with Therapeutic Recreation Department faculty in some areas such as program assessment.
