Are you ready to dive into the exciting field of drug delivery systems for inhaled therapies and play a key role in developing next-generation therapeutic solutions?RTI's Technology Advancement and Commercialization (TAC) Business Unit is seeking an individual for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Biomedical Technologies team to develop and characterize drug delivery systems primarily for inhaled therapeutic agents. The postdoctoral researcher will benefit from experience in biomedical engineering, materials science, and/or polymer chemistry to support the diversity and scope of projects from proof-of-concept to preclinical studies. ResponsibilitiesThe postdoctoral position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated research professional to contribute to the development of inhaled therapeutic agents to treat several pulmonary infectious diseases and genetic disorders. The postdoctoral researcher will:Assist with the design, development, and characterization of micro- or nano- particulate systems capable of delivering therapeutic doses of drug or alternate therapeutic modality by inhalation.Perform drug formulation, particle design and manufacture, physicochemical and aerosol performance characteristics, and supporting efforts for preclinical studies.Ensure proper execution of studies and record-keeping.Perform data analyses and prepare manuscripts for publication.Attend conferences to present novel research findings.Assist with grant applications.Review literature and patents to retrieve scientific information.Collaborate with other RTI scientists on new and existing programs.Follow all RTI laboratory safety guidelines.Other duties as assigned by PI.

QualificationsA Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry, material science, or related field.Demonstrated, in-depth knowledge of drug formulation, drug delivery and disposition, transport kinetics, biocompatibility, and appropriate characterization methods to identify and control sources of physical and chemical instability. Knowledge of particulate systems and their properties is desirable.Demonstrated ability to create and successfully implement experimental test plans.Proficiency in utilizing analytical equipment, such as HPLC, TGA, UV-Vis, and DSC. Proficiency in aerosol characterization is desirable.Adept at working independently in a fast-paced environment.Creative ability to solve problems that arise without compromising data quality.Desire to expand or develop new research and product development initiatives.Highly interactive interpersonal skills for effective communication with project team members, various staff (including engineers, scientists, technicians, clients, vendors, etc.), and the scientific community.Strong verbal and written communication skills including a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.Proficient in English.Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.This will be a 2-year contract position with the possibility for renewal.
