The State’s total compensation package for employees features a highly competitive set of employee benefits including:Annual and Sick Leave benefitsNine paid holidays and one Personal Holiday each yearState Group Insurance coverage options, including health, life, dental, vision, and other supplemental insurance optionsRetirement plan options, including employer contributionsPerform tasks required to respond to GIS Requests by preparing maps, rectifying imagery, performing analysis and calculations, digitizing legal descriptions, plotting maps, publishing layers to SDE, installing and troubleshooting GIS software and add-ins, providing one-on-one training to customers, and developing custom script tools to automate simple workflows.Responsible for assisting in the coordination, planning, development, maintenance and archival of policies, procedures, practices, and methods for the utilization of the Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection, Resilient Florida Program.Responsible for the development, maintenance and enhancement of custom script tools, custom web apps, ArcGIS Pro add-ins, custom survey forms, or ArcGIS Notebooks.Prepare required documentation for the implementation of new GIS layers, or QA/QC of spatial data. Devise efficient workflows to implement new GIS layers, prepare and upload survey forms and aerial images to mobile devices, and assist in the development, updates, and maintenance of interactive web apps and story maps.Assist in acquisition and processing of new data including aerial photography, satellite imagery, LiDAR datasets, conventional topographic and bathymetric data, and biological and physical monitoring data.Perform other tasks as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of concepts, terminology, and techniques related to surveying, mapping and cartography, geodesy, and engineering support as it applies to coastal systems.Knowledge of and skill in ESRI GIS-related software including but not limited to ArcGIS Pro, Survey123 Connect, Field Maps, ArcGIS AppStudio, ERDAS.Knowledge of the general functions for spatial analysis and 3D analysis.Knowledge of general geodatabase management, SQL programming, and metadata writing.Knowledge of and skill in ArcGIS Online applications including but not limited to web maps, hosted feature services, web apps, dashboards, story maps, ArcGIS Notebooks or Jupyter Notebooks.Ability to design workflow charts and/or process information logically.Ability to identify complex workflows that would benefit from the use of custom scripts or add-ins.Ability to create custom field data collection forms with the use of software.Ability to process, analyze and create mapping products and applications using coastal shoreline survey data, aerial photography, Lidar data, project and permit extents data, and still and video archives.Ability to communicate technical information effectively, orally and in writing, to users and information technology personnel.Ability to work independently and in a group.Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Ability to travel overnight.Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of verifiable related experience; or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described above, for a total of 5 years.A valid driver’s license.Preferred Qualifications:Previous supervisory experience.DEP is committed to successfully recruiting and onboarding talented and skilled individuals into its workforce.
