The Fire Chief reports to the City Manager and serves as a critical member of the city's executive leadership team.The City of College Park Fire Department is dedicated to safeguarding its community through a comprehensive range of fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, and emergency medical services. With a commitment to excellence, its team of highly trained professional emergency responders ensures the highest degree of patient care while maintaining the utmost safety standards for the city.As the Fire Chief of College Park, you will lead a dynamic and dedicated department comprised of 76 exceptional staff members, including 66 fire suppression personnel, one EMS coordinator, and seven administrative professionals. The department proudly holds an ISO rating of 3, reflecting high standards and efficiency in service delivery.The Fire Department operates from three strategically located fire stations and has an annual budget of $8,917,708. In 2023 alone, the team responded to over 9,300 emergency calls, including 2,111 fire incidents and 7,216 EMS calls. Their proactive approach to fire safety is evident in the thorough review of 800 building plans and the completion of 233 fire sprinkler inspections last year.The city seeks a visionary leader who can continue to uphold and advance the department's legacy of excellence.As Fire Chief, you will be at the forefront of strategic planning, community outreach, and emergency response management, ensuring that College Park remains a safe and thriving community for residents and visitors.The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or related field.Fifteen years of progressively responsible experience as a Certified State of Georgia firefighter, including at least two (2) years in middle management and three (3) years in executive management.Possess a class B driver’s license.Certification as NPQ Fire Officer IV, Public Fire Prevention Officer IV, Fire Instructor II, Haz Mat Level OPS, Fire Safety Officer III, Planning Section Chief, Logistics Section Chief, and completion of management series, IMS 400.An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.The hiring range for this position is $146,593 - $186,907.Please contact Billy Grogan via email at billy@sumterconsulting.com or by phone at 770-403-8086.
