Non-Profit Accounting Supervisor

Our client is a non-profit organization with an easy-going environment and a family-oriented culture. They are seeking a skilled Accountant to join their finance team as the Accounting Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and leadership of the finance/accounting team. This person would be reporting to the CFO and would be responsible for three (3) direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the finance department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations
  • Lead and optimize the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage and mentor a team of three finance professionals, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work output
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Provide comprehensive support during internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries
  • Perform and review complex account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of financial data
  • Manage the general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, providing insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor budgets, identifying areas for cost savings and operational efficiency
  • Oversee cash management and treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting and management of banking relationships
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements
  • Implement and maintain robust financial systems and processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational growth and sustainability initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed, offering financial expertise and guidance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Strong Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
