Staff Accountant

Our client is a mission-driven non-profit organization committed to making a positive impact in our community. Our focus is on driving social change through innovative programs, and we are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in non-profit accounting and a passion for managing fund accounting and ensuring financial compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
• Manage fund accounting, ensuring proper tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Prepare and monitor grant reports, budgets, and financial projections.
• Collaborate with program teams to track spending against budgets and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
• Support annual audits, preparing necessary documentation and reports.
• Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting regulations, such as IRS Form 990 and state filings.
• Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, and payable.
• Contribute to financial planning and analysis, supporting strategic decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on non-profit and fund accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software (experience with QuickBooksBlackbaud, or similar systems is preferred).
• Strong understanding of GAAPgrant management, and restricted fund accounting
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
