Administrative/Human Resource Assistant

Our client, a full-service transportation and logistics company headquartered in Shelton, CT, is seeking an Administrative/Human Resource Assistant. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for a diverse range of administrative duties

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To:

  • Reception Duties:
    • Receives the public and logs in visitors according to company policy.
    • Back-up for central telephone system.
    • Receives mail, documents, packages, and courier deliveries and delivers or distributes items.
  • General Administrative duties:
    • Order office supplies for corporate office.
    • Assist Director of Transportation Compliance with entering STA forms and test scores.
    • Receives building maintenance professionals as needed
    • Assist Manager of Corporate Relations with building maintenance issues and any employee events.
  • Human Resource Assistant duties:
    • Facilitate the onboarding process for all new hires including orientation.
    • Maintain accurate records of active job openings.
    • Manage internal and external job postings.
    • Schedule interviews for hiring managers.
    • Maintain up-to-date employee files, records and documents.
    • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Support employee benefit administration by answering routine questions and assisting with the open enrollment process.
    • Monitor Annual Performance Reviews to ensure completion.
    • Support special events such as benefits open enrollment, employee appreciation events, and holiday parties.
    • Assist the Human Resources Manager with reporting and special HR projects.

Summary of Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED - required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree-preferred
  • Some HR knowledge or clerical experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior active listening skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Suite experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving capabilities.
