General Purpose $50 Sign-on Bonus $500 Bonus if 300 or more hours are worked Works on days when school is in session; 2 hours a day Monday through Thursday 8:05-9:05 AM and 3:15-4:15 PM; Friday and Early Release days from 8:05-9:05 AM and 1:15-2:15 PM GENERAL PURPOSE Performs routine duties as needed to assure safe crossing of school children and the general public at intersections and other road crossings. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Evidence Technician and the Administrative Services Sergeant. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None Examples of Duties Observes road traffic to determine best timing for road crossings; admits children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations; escorts children and pedestrians as needed to assure safe crossings; acts defensively when anticipating on-coming vehicles. Reports on time to assigned location at pre-determined times; turns pedestrian traffic lights on and off; sets out safety cones; wears and uses required safety apparel and equipment; reports faulty and/or malfunctioning lights, apparel and equipment to supervisor; clears snow or debris from walkways to ensure safe, unobstructed passage. Monitors behavior of children and educates children regarding traffic safety as appropriate; observes general activity while on duty to detect suspicious behaviors or dangerous hazards or circumstances that are not normal; reports such observations to supervisor or appropriate authority. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: A. Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform above and related duties, AND B. Experience working with children. Special Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. Additional Qualifications/Information Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledgeof traffic rules and regulation; pedestrian road safety; emergency procedures, including first aid and CPR. Ability tocommunicate effectively with the public including pedestrians and motorists, using verbal and non-verbal means; good judgment at all times; remain calm during stressful situations. Work Environment: Tasks require a variety of physical activities normally involving muscle strain related to walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, stretching, reaching, lifting, and shoveling. Talking, seeing, and hearing are essential to the performance of the job. Job is performed outdoors and is subject to exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, wind, and wet conditions. Daily exposure to hazardous physical work conditions. Tasks require incumbent to lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
