POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide direct care to children, ages infancy through 4, enrolled in before and after care at the Marygrove Early Childhood Education Center and to ensure that all children have an enjoyable and developmentally enriching experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- CDA preferred.
- One year of previous experience working with pre-school aged children preferred.
- Create and maintain a safe, fun, inviting, and accepting environment for young children and their parents.
- Provide childcare support before preschool and/or after preschool at the Marygrove EEC.
- Assist other childcare team members in organizing and carrying out planned activities and offer ideas for new activities.
- Exhibit positive child handling techniques when interacting with parents and children.
- Elevate any conflicts or concerns with parents or children to the Center Leader.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other team members as required.
- Sanitize toys and classroom equipment regularly.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and understanding that young children's behaviors are a form of communication.
- Interest, enjoyment, and experience working with young children infancy through age 4.
- Must be reliable and dependable with regular transportation.
- Ability to empathize with, and re-direct, children using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Must be able to accept supervision and work cooperatively with other team members.
- Must be able to relate to all community members regardless of race, age, gender, culture, religion, and economic status.
- Must have good physical mobility in order to play with children on the ground or move quickly with children in emergencies.
- A demonstrated respect for the individuals and families with whom we work.
- Ability to work with parents by showing flexibility, sensitivity, and respect.
- Ability to prevent or redirect challenging behaviors without physical management of children.
- Valid driver's license and / or reliable transportation.
