Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Agawam, MA. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial accounting and reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, and providing insights that drive business decisions. This position will play a critical role in leading month-end close activities, preparing financial statements, and assisting with audits. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and a strong ability to collaborate across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insights to management.
  • Support the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for budget-to-actual variances.
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, providing training and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Assist with special accounting projects and ad hoc financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and general ledger management.
