Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in New Britain, CT. The Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the company's financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and a proactive approach to solving financial issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
- Prepare financial reports for management and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws, including tax filings and regulatory reporting.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving audit inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external accountants to manage tax and audit requirements.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Assist with special accounting projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a general accounting role
