Town of University Park, MDThe Town of University Park, Maryland, seeks a Police Chief with strong leadership skills to help advance community policing initiatives and manage the police department in innovative and cost-effective ways.The University Park Police Department provides 24-hour proactive patrol with the primary objective of ensuring the general well-being and safety of all members of our community. The department is comprised of a dedicated team of experienced enforcement professionals including nine sworn officers, the Police Chief, one Code Compliance Officer, two crossing guards, and an Administrative Assistant.The ideal candidate will have experience across all levels of municipal policing operations, be skilled and knowledgeable in current and emerging police best practices, and have experience with emergency management and incident command protocols.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Public Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 15 years of law enforcement experience, with at least 5 years of executive command level experience.The Chief serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council and reports directly to the Town Administrator.This position offers a competitive salary (starting range expected to be $130,000 - $150,000 DOQ) and an excellent benefits package including health, vision, dental, paid time off, eleven paid holidays, the Maryland Retirement System, and Mission Square defined contribution.To apply for the position, send a resume, cover letter, and three references to Debi Sandlin at dsandlin@upmd.org by Friday, October 11, 2024.
