The Research Technologist will assist the PIs with ongoing projects of developing a new form of pan cancer therapy based on novel toxic short RNAs discovered by the lab. While this will be a university position, it is sponsored by the start-up NUAgo Therapeutics founded by the two PIs.

Maintaining cell culture and performing general biochemistry and molecular biology techniques are needed to study effects of delivered short RNAs first in vitro on cancer cell lines then in vivo in mouse tumor models. Maintaining and as needed breeding mice for experiments studying either ovarian, breast, or liver cancer is an important part of this work.

Specific Responsibilities:

Ordering supplies and reagents.

Overseeing general lab and safety issues.

Maintaining simple computer databases to track laboratory reagents.

Working with a Research Associate Professor in the laboratory on a number of in vivo cancer mouse models.

Tissue cell culture and analysis of treated mice by isolating and analyzing various tissues and body fluids.

Documenting experiments and procedures with results in the electronic lab notebook in a self-explanatory and legible way.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a biological science.

Previous bench experience in a molecular, cell or biochemical research laboratory.

Strong organizational, communication and laboratory bench-work skills.

Ability to solve technical problems with some independence.

Ability to carry out several tasks concurrently.

Ability to handle reasonably complex scientific concepts.

Ability to learn new concepts quickly.

Mandatory experience in mouse work, injecting both cancer cells and therapeutics (ip, iv or sc) and harvesting of tumors and different mouse organs.
