Employee Type:Job Summary:The shuttle driver will provide transportation on a determined schedule between Colby College and Downtown Waterville and provide some security services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The shuttle driver will be expected to respond to calls for service in a timely and professional manner to the off-campus residence hall, support and enforce College policies, and work effectively as a member of the Security staff and as a member of a diverse community. This is a Part Time position with benefits. High school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework or post-secondary education a plusValid commercial driver's license (CDL) with P (Passenger Bus Vehicle) endorsement required and must meet Colby's Fleet Safety Policy requirementsMust present a neat, clean, and professional imageAbility to be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligationsAdditional training and certifications in First Aid and CPR and First Responder Training preferredMust meet CDL federal requirements, including random alcohol and drug testingWell-developed public relations skills; able to perform duties in a flexible, non-confrontational environment; work with members of a diverse community; and utilize diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive situationsAbility to work independently and sit and drive for long periods of timeEffectively operate a variety of equipment including portable/mobile radios and computersExcellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to complete clear, concise, and accurate logs, reports, and other documentationAbility to make an impact through work as a member of a team and diverse community
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to the assistant director of security, this position has significant interactions with students, faculty, staff, and other outside constituencies.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General campus environment. Position involves frequent movement. Employee must be able to sit and drive for long periods of time. Some lifting and computer use possible. The shuttle operates Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful and satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) and a pre-employment health screening. All students, faculty, and staff who are present on campus must be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, unless granted an exemption or accommodation by the College.
