Position Summary
We are seeking an
Inventory/Cost Accountant
to work out of our
West Allis, WI
office, with a hybrid option available.The Cost Accountant will prepare and maintain financial and business transactions, applying generally accepted accounting principles ("GAAP") in the preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of Inventory and Cost Accounts. The employee will collaborate with project accounting and project managers on Parts Sales transactions related to specific Projects. This employee will also be responsible for other month-end activities related to financial reporting.
Essential Duties
Perform detailed analysis of COGS and inventory accounts.Timely issuance of invoices for Parts' Sales Team.Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory.Prepare inventory, accruals, intercompany, parts sales, and cost accounts journal entries and reconciliations monthly.Actively engage in the preparation of the inventory excess and obsolescence reserve accruals.Participate in the Inventory and COGS close process to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.Lead Semi Annual Physical Inventory Counts.Inventory valuation analysis (raw materials and finished goods, standard/actual, etc.)Assist with internal and external audits and provide information as requested.Partner with colleagues in developing, proposing, and implementing policies and procedures improving internal controls, consistency - and efficient use of resources.Other duties as assigned, to include support of special projects as requested.Education and Required Experience
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.1-2 years of relevant work experience, including knowledge of GAAP.Experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports.Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative.Strong work ethic and attention to detail - eager to learn and grow within the organization.Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.Experience with ERP / Financial systems (preferably Oracle) a plus.Certifications and Licenses
CMA or CPA a plus

The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment
The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate.Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
