The ideal candidate has experience in software design, implementation, and real-time data processing. Together with engineers they will analyze complex manufacturing and scientific devices, devise a data collection and storage strategy, followed by implementation. The data will be used for data analytics and visualization to support hard disk drive (HDD) media development for next generation product technologies, including heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLead and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.Work with a team to develop and deploy programs to collect data from IOT devices, such as manufacturing and scientific tools used for media development.Ensure high reliability of the processes, data integrity and accuracy by implementing robust data validation and quality assurance practices.Transfer software to other sites in Asia.Add new features, perform maintenance tasks.Consult with engineers in the media organization to understand their data needs.Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to maintain code quality and best practices.Report progress to senior management.REQUIREDBachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering, information systems, or a related field.5 or more years experience in software design and implementation.Strong proficiency in coding in various forms, such as Python, C++, Java, SQL, etc.SKILLSExperience in Docker, Kubernetes and Kafka a plus.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Enjoy working on highly complex projects involving engineers from many different teams.Western Digital is committed to providing equal opportunities to all applicants and employees and will not discriminate against any applicant or employee based on their race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, medical condition, marital status, physical disability, mental disability, genetic information, military and veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics.Western Digital thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
