The ideal candidate has experience in software design, implementation, and real-time data processing. Together with engineers, they will analyze complex manufacturing and scientific devices, devise a data collection and storage strategy, followed by implementation. The data will be used for data analytics and visualization to support hard disk drive (HDD) media development for next generation product technologies, including heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLead and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.Work with a team to develop and deploy programs to collect data from IoT devices, such as manufacturing and scientific tools used for media development.Ensure high reliability of processes, data integrity, and accuracy by implementing robust data validation and quality assurance practices.Transfer software to other sites in Asia.Add new features and perform maintenance tasks.Consult with engineers in the media organization to understand their data needs.Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to maintain code quality and best practices.Report progress to senior management.REQUIREDBachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering, information systems, or a related field.5 or more years of experience in software design and implementation.Strong proficiency in coding in various forms, such as Python, C++, Java, SQL, etc.SKILLSExperience in Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka is a plus.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Enjoy working on highly complex projects involving engineers from many different teams.Western Digital is committed to providing equal opportunities to all applicants and employees and will not discriminate against any applicant or employee based on their race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, medical condition, marital status, physical or mental disability, or other legally protected characteristics.We are committed to an inclusive environment where every individual can thrive through a sense of belonging, respect, and contribution.Compensation & Benefits DetailsAn employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business needs.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid vacation time, medical/dental/vision insurance, life and disability insurance, and more.
