Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 per year

A bit about us:

Our client is actively recruiting for a mid-to-senior level IP paralegal with trademark and patent prosecution experience join their headquarter Irvine offices. The opportunity is with a reputable national firm that serves individuals, start-ups, and publicly trade companies for a variety of trademark, copyright, patent, and general intellectual property matters. We are seeking candidates with at least 7 years of IP experience in patent and trademark prosecution. A paralegal certificate is strongly preferred. This is a hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

The incoming paralegal will work closely with the patent and trademark team and engage directly with clients, court personal, and opposing counsel. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills. Previous experience with preparing and filing U.S. and global applications for trademark registration, coordinating the filing and defending of foreign oppositions and cancelation actions, performing trademark clearance searches, conducting IP due diligence for patents, and overseeing patent portfolios required for success in this role. Interested applicants should have solution oriented independent problem solving skills and an ability to exercise sound judgement on behalf of clients

Familiarity with USPTO, EUIPO, WIPO, and TTAB filing and procedural requirements is a plus. Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file U.S. and global trademark applications, including ancillary prosecution and post-registration maintenance
  • Communicate with clients and foreign associates regarding trademark prosecution, maintenance, and instructions
  • Coordinate foreign trademark filings, oppositions, and cancellations, including gathering evidence and legalizing documents
  • Monitor trademark conflicts, conduct investigations, and report findings to clients
  • Track and ensure timely filing of oppositions in enforcement actions
  • Perform trademark clearance searches
  • File copyright registrations and record IP rights with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol
  • Conduct IP due diligence for domestic and foreign patents
  • Manage U.S. and foreign patent portfolios
  • Research and estimate costs for filing domestic and foreign patent applications
  • Prepare and file U.S. patent applications, responses, and related documents
  • Coordinate execution of declarations, patent assignments, and ownership transfers with USPTO, WIPO, and foreign associates
  • Draft and file PCT applications and related amendments
  • Instruct foreign associates on patent filings, annuities, and enforcement actions
  • Monitor and manage daily patent docket with IP docketing department
  • Oversee document legalization as needed
  • Maintain client portfolio reports and update iManage files
  • Draft IP prosecution and enforcement documents for attorneys
  • Independently manage docket deadlines and follow up with clients and attorneys
  • Prepare customized portfolio status reports for clients
  • Assist corporate attorneys with IP due diligence and transfers of title
  • Manage client IP portfolio transfers
  • Supervise administrative support staff
