Caseworker Support Specialist Danbury

CHD is seeking Support Specialist to join our growing Planning and Implementing Housing Options for Long-term Success (PILOTS) team in Waterbury, CT. Through this program, the Support Specialist PILOTS staff will use a counseling approach that uses both motivational interviewing and harm-reduction. YOUR ROLE AS A PILOTS SUPPORT SPECIALIST: As a PILOTS Support Specialist, you will assist program participants to live independently in the community by addressing their mental and physical health, substance use, employment and housing needs. The Support Specialist actively promotes the philosophy of the agency and maintains a high level of commitment to program participants. PILOT's staff use a counseling approach that uses both motivational interviewing and harm-reduction.You will help the participants with:Securing housing, move-in, relocations, interventions in eviction processes, rent arrears and housing stability.Assist participants with budgeting/banking Help participants with obtaining and maintaining entitlements. Provide crisis interventionProvide vocations assistance; resume writing, interview preparations, and job search assistance. REQUIRMENTS: Experience working with psychiatric disorders or co-occurring population preferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution preferred High school diploma or GED required Reliable, registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check Field visits within the surrounding communities to see participantsApproved criminal background check (CORI) SUCCESS FACTORS:The Support Specialist should actively support the philosophy of the Agency and maintain a high level of commitment to program participants and staff.
