Position Summary

The Program Support Specialist will promote and recruit new students to RCC, specifically into Allied Health and other healthcare programs, and assist students through admissions and enrollment processes. Provides services to eligible referral sites, associated agency partners, community agencies, non-profits, employers, and local high schools to establish an effective recruitment linkage with these partners. Communicates college admission policy, entry processes, financial aid, registration, and advises students on college admission and program information. Coordinates approved student recruitment activities and performs orientations/information sessions and follow-ups. Position may require travel in both Josephine and Jackson counties.

Examples of Duties - Essential Functions

1.

Promotes and recruits' students to RCC

Recruits through direct outreach to local organizations, community agencies, employers, high schools, and other potential student referral sources by building and maintaining relationships with external and internal professionals and community partnersMaintains database collection, tracks responses to outreach and recruitment activities, and follows up with prospects and currently enrolled studentsRecruits diverse students to Allied Health programs in alignment with the recruitment plan2.

Communicates knowledge about all RCC college programs and services

Collaborate and share resources with internal departments (e.g., Enrollment Management) about new and existing resources for students and the communityAttend and develop workshops on content-specific information for students and community partnersImplement communication plans for our community partners and reach diverse people, including professionals, people in the workforce, employers, high school staff and administrators, and prospective and current studentsParticipate and collaborate with faculty and staff as well as community advisory committees to better understand community needs, labor market trends, college policies, services, and personnelDevelop talking points, presentation content, collaborate with Marketing & Communications to develop marketing material ideas that communicate this information to prospective students3.

Guide and assist students

Advise and guide students through admissions, placement process, orientation, and registration of RCC's enrollment processes for Allied Health Occupations and other healthcare programsServe as an administrative user of Verified Credentials, supporting initial setup and coordinating and monitoring results for drug screens, background checks, immunization tracking, and verification letters for employersFacilitates and guides new students through the placement process, including advising them of the best options, evaluating criteria and multiple measures to determine course placement, recording placement into the Student Information Management System, and providing notifications to students4.

Administrative, data collection, and reporting

Develops presentations and workshop content to deliver to the publicPrepares routine and customized reports, correspondence, or materials using word processing, database, or social media applicationsSurvey community partners to understand the effectiveness of recruitment activities and determine necessary next steps and/or changesUse data to assess new student populations and determine how to meet the goals of the Recruitment Plan, ensuring that the goals and new student targets are reached5.

Working Relationships

Collaborate with members of the Admissions & Recruitment Department, Enrollment Management, and Student Services Division, contributing ideas, offering feedback, and providing assistanceConduct and/or coordinate workshops, recruitment events, and information sessions with faculty, staff, and community partnersMaintain clear communication between community partners and RCC staff and faculty to bring information and resources back to the collegeAssist and collaborate in presentations and training in regard to prospective students and college Allied Health Occupations and other healthcare programsCreate awareness at the college to increase educational opportunities for diverse students that align with our RCC Disproportional Enrollment Report and Recruitment PlanSupport the Director of Nursing and AHO to promote RCC and academic and CTE programs to the community6.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

- A Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.Experience

- A minimum of three years experience working in a community college, university, and/or community agency or school serving diverse clientele/students.Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer knowledge of community college recruiting. Prefers knowledge of post-secondary educational systems including assessment, admission, financial aid and advising.3.

- Advising processes, financial aid regulations, college policies and procedures, admissions, testing, academic programs, career identification, and college and other post-secondary entry strategies; college programs and services within assigned areas of responsibility; general office practices such as database management, Internet, Microsoft Office Suite® products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), document imaging, and web-based programs required.Skills

- Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills; computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office Suite® products; skills in planning and facilitating; recruiting, making presentations, and problem-solving. Must have the ability to create and lead presentations that are engaging and in the spirit of recruitment. Basic conversational Spanish preferred.Abilities

- Advise/mentor prospective and enrolled participants in planning, monitoring, and achieving goals; assist participants in problem-solving and goal identification; analyze situations and determine required actions; communicate professionally and confidentially with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and community partners; maintain detailed and accurate manual and/or electronic records; work as a cooperative and contributing member of a team. Ability to work independently or as a team when needed.4.

Other Requirements

For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.5.

This position functions as an in-person work arrangement, working on-campus with either a set schedule or flexibility depending on operational needs.6.

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for over half of the daily work period which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, and 5-25 pounds occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.7.

Additional Posting Information

This is a Part-time Clasisifed, 29 hour per week (72.5%) position in the Allied Health department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 7 on the 2024-25 Classified Wage Schedule.

Position is fixed-term/grant-funded through 6/30/2025, renewed annually, with continuation dependent upon funding. Grant funding is expected to continue through 6/30/2026. Fixed-term/grant-funded positions do not accrue seniority.
