Brief Description of Job Duties:
This position will be responsible for the management of IT projects that will align with State and agency strategic plans to facilitate the accomplishment of their mission, goals, and objectives. In addition, this position assists the Director of IT Project Management in the planning, development, and implementation of projects, policies, and procedures to ensure effective delivery of IT projects.
Skills required:
Manage projects utilizing best practice project management methodologiesDemonstrates professionalism when dealing with challenging people and situationsStrong analytical skills with the ability to quickly learn new business and technical processesAbility to create and maintain project work plans in MS ProjectAbility to create and maintain project documents in MS SharePointExperience with utilizing and managing through MS TeamsProven ability to self-directProven ability and desire to solve problems and present implementable solutionsAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingCreate and deliver presentations using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, etc.Facilitate groups in consensus decision-makingCreate accurate estimates for the work to be completed utilizing staffBuild and maintain team cohesiveness between contractors and State staff
Knowledge and ability to utilize the current version of the following products:
Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Teams, and ProjectMS SharePoint
Experience required:
Five years of actual IT project management experience: monitoring and reporting project status, preparing schedules, managing budgets, and coordinating/directing teams.A high level of proficiency with MS project.Preferred, but not required: Project management certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or State of Kansas Project Management Certification.
Education required:Bachelor's degree and two years of experience with IT related project management or four years of experience with IT related project management. Additional experience in the areas listed above may be substituted for the required education as determined the hiring manager.
Physical requirements (lifting, repetitive motion, etc):Normal office requirements.Attire for position:Business Casual.It appears we have another opening for a contract-to-hire PM position. All of your recently submitted project management candidates will be in consideration for this position, so please do not resubmit. Note: there have been some changes to the Temporary Staffing Request form, so please review. Notably, the biggest changes it the years of experience has been increased to 5. Otherwise, essentially, the parameters are the same, however, we are looking for someone who is within reasonable driving distance of Topeka or willing to relocate after converted to State employment for the occasional onsite meeting.
