Description

Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a full-time Support Specialist to join our Access team! The Support Specialist manages reception area in our Emergency Services and related administrative functions which include, but is not limited to, client registration, management of clinician and per diem staff schedules, and completing reports. Assists both clients and GNMH providers in determining optimal medical financial assistance eligibility and facilitates application process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Greets clients and confirms and/or updates all demographic and insurance information and collects any copayments and/or payments due.Answers and screens all incoming phone calls and directs callers to the appropriate staff memberManages waiting area and addresses any disruptive issues in a prompt and professional manner.Communicates clearly and responds to clients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.Accurately documents all information in the appropriate fields and/or account notes. Maintains accuracy when entering demographic and insurance information in the system.Maintains knowledge of state and federal programs, and conducts or attends financial counseling training for GNMH staff.Counsels and assesses eligibility of uninsured and underinsured clients for State and Federal financial assistance programs and GMMH charity care.Attends clinical team meetings and works with clinicians and case managers to limit lapses in client insurance coverages and ensure services received are ordered and covered.Manages clinician per-diem staffing schedule if appropriate.Maintains an efficient tracking system of required information for various process/procedures.Attends all mandatory Benefit and Access training and meetings. Helps resolve billing needs in terms of processing claims and identifying errors in need of correction.Assists clients and clinicians in obtaining necessary documentation internally and from outside agencies.Maintains calendars for the conference rooms and other locations, where scheduling is necessary.Accepts and directs deliveries for the building.Manages office and program supplies and submits orders when necessary and appropriate.Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.Requirements

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required1 to 2 years working in a medical office preferably mental healthKnowledge of State of NH medical financial assistance programs.Demonstrated knowledge of medical insurance.Medical terminology and scheduling.Projects a friendly, positive, and professional attitude both in person and on the phone.Detail oriented.Flexible, willing to learn.Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to multitask, and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.Ability to exercise judgment.Ability to problem solve and exercise judgment.Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Email, Word, EXCEL).
