This is a full-time benefits-eligible position. Position Purpose

The System Administrator II will have a full scope of understanding of server administration at the intermediate to advanced level for Windows and/or Red Hat Linux based servers to include planning, installation, documentation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overall support. The System Administrator II will have the ability to install, configure, maintain, and document multi-system solutions that pertain to campus-wide systems, backup systems, server firewalls, security, etc., and the ability to troubleshoot all appropriate systems. In addition, this position will provide technical support and assist with troubleshooting on assigned work orders and projects for new and existing hardware and software systems. The System Administrator II will have the intermediate to advanced level ability to install, configure, implement, and document network-related issues and problems as it pertains to servers, storage arrays, firewalls, and general connectivity, and the ability to troubleshoot all such systems.

-Bachelor's degree in a technology related field.-Education may be substituted for experience or experience may be substituted for education based on the following: AA = 2 years experience; BA/BS = 4 years experience; MA/MS = 6 years experience.

Computer Skills

Word-Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Other - database and scripting languages.

Experience

1. Five (5) years applied experience planning, installing, documenting, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux operating systems.2. Three (3) years practical experience and knowledge in directory services, switching, routing, and server/network security.3. Experience in technical environment of supporting servers on larger networks with multiple servers and users.4. Demonstrated ability to research, identify, troubleshoot, and correct server and system problems using system utilities and diagnostic tools in timely capacity.5. Familiarity and understanding of system analysis procedures and techniques.6. Experience with load balancing and proxy servers such as Netscalar and IPVS7. Server administration certification preferred.8. MCSE or equivalent experience preferred.9. Applied experience with storage arrays - local, NAS , SAN , etc. preferred.10. Experience as a team leader .11. Ability to interpret and apply broad regulatory standards and technical specifications to assignments.
