The Technology Services Department (TS) of the City and County of Denver use state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to deliver and improve the systems, applications, and operations to our customers. What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00/year, based on education and experience. The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accela Developer with deep technical expertise and proven leadership abilities to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of the Accela platform and excel at building and maintaining enterprise-level solutions in a fast-paced environment. This individual will thrive in a collaborative setting, ensuring the successful delivery of Accela implementations, upgrades, and customizations that align with business goals.

The Senior Accela Developer will be responsible for the following:

Collaborates with end users and IT teams to assess needs, identify problems, and design innovative Accela solutions. This includes developing project plans and enhancing existing software applications, operating systems, and databases.Monitors and optimizes system performance, ensuring high availability, load balancing, and satisfactory response times across enterprise applications.Analyzes business workflows and processes to recommend improvements, design automation functions, and create comprehensive test scripts and scenarios.Writes, modifies, and tests Accela platform features, including creating technical documentation and designing integrations across various platforms.Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop recommendations, ensure compliance with IT protocols, and implement best practices for systems customizations.Researches vendor products and modules for enhancements, bug fixes, and upgrades, and works with vendors to resolve systems and applications issues with delivered functionality.Conducts impact analyses for proposed customizations, assessing the feasibility and implications of changes on existing systems.Leads efforts to adopt cloud strategies, identifying opportunities to migrate applications and services to cloud environments.Assists with security protocols, managing security authorizations in test environments, and addressing access needs.Develops and contributes to policies and procedures related to Accela systems governance.Leads studies and develops proposals for new or modified systems, including cost estimates and project timelines.Performs other related duties as assigned.What You'll Bring

We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience:

Extensive Accela Expertise

4+ years of experience in Accela development, including hands-on work with Accela Automation, Citizen Access, and the Accela Civic Platform.Deep understanding of Accela workflows, scripting (JavaScript), and APIs for integrations and custom solutions.Proven Track Record in Accela Configuration & Customization

Strong experience in configuring Accela modules (e.g., Permitting, Licensing, Code Enforcement) and customizing the platform to meet complex business requirements.Ability to design and implement advanced system customizations, including form modifications, business rules, and data management.Technical Expertise in Scripting and API Development

Expertise in writing and optimizing complex Accela scripts using JavaScript.Proven experience in building and maintaining APIs for integrating Accela with third-party applications and systems (e.g., GIS, ERP systems, payment gateways).Strong Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting Skills

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the Accela platform, including system performance optimization, bug fixes, and technical support.Data Management and Migration Experience

Experience with data migration and synchronization between legacy systems and Accela, ensuring data integrity and seamless transition during implementations or upgrades.Leadership & Collaboration

Experience leading development teams and mentoring other developers on Accela best practices, design, and coding standards.Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, including business analysts, project managers, and IT teams, to deliver solutions that meet business needs.Project Management Skills

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality solutions within agreed timelines and budgets.Experience participating in large-scale Accela implementations and system upgrades.Local government experience

Familiarity with regulatory requirements, especially within the public sector, and experience ensuring that Accela systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations.Additional Desired Skills:

Knowledge of databases management within Accela systems.Familiarity with Accela Civic Cloud solutions and emerging Accela technologies.Experience working in Agile development environments.Accela Certification(s) preferred.Who You Are:

Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a related field.Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional level experience developing, modifying, and implementing operating systems, business applications, enterprise architecture design, and maintaining databases and servers.Education and Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirementsMust obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within the probationary period.
