Job Details

Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Controller to join our small but growing contracting firm. This role is crucial in managing the full spectrum of accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), month-end close, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach, ensuring accurate and timely financial information while identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to provide financial insights and analysis.
  • Assist with system implementation and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency as the company grows.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction or contracting industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with accounting software and willingness to learn and implement new systems.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
