Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Controller to join our small but growing contracting firm. This role is crucial in managing the full spectrum of accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), month-end close, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach, ensuring accurate and timely financial information while identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close processes.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to provide financial insights and analysis.
- Assist with system implementation and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency as the company grows.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction or contracting industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with accounting software and willingness to learn and implement new systems.
- Proactive and adaptable, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
