Job Description - Senior Technical Lead Molecular Diagnostics (240002U0)The Senior Technical Lead Molecular Diagnostics will assist the Director/Manager with strategic planning, coordination, new test validation and oversee the daily activities of the assigned areas. Responsibilities include evaluating cost/benefit ratios of bringing in new tests, evaluating and choosing testing platforms and data management software, research and development of new tests, validation, and maintaining College of American Pathologists accreditation. The role also involves acting as a liaison between Laboratory Medicine and all hospital departments/staff performing lab procedures, completing technical, regulatory and quality initiatives as assigned, and performing testing as assigned.QualificationsMinimum Education:Bachelor's Degree of Science in a related genetic/molecular field. Master's degree in genetic/molecular field and/or ASCP certification in molecular diagnostics. (Required)Minimum Work Experience:At least 5 years in an accredited CLIA molecular diagnostics laboratory with at least 2 years in a leadership/management role in a molecular diagnostics lab. (Required)Required Skills/Knowledge:Project management skills, terrific interpersonal and communication skills, research and development experience.Functional AccountabilitiesStrategic Planning

Assist with evaluation of patient care and financial opportunities of bringing molecular testing in-house.Evaluate pros and cons of various test platforms and data management software.Evaluate costs.Research and Development

Perform validation studies and write up validation summary.Recognize unexpected test discrepancies and analyze causes.Effectively utilize time to complete projects.Keep up to date on technological developments and updates to molecular technology.Compliance

Ensure policies and procedures are accurately written, reviewed and signed.Ensure other regulatory requirements are met (e.g., MSDS, competencies, etc.).Write policies and procedures pertaining to new testing for CAP accreditation.Comply with other regulatory requirements.Develop test reporting formats, policies, and procedures.Daily Operations
