As one of the newest Chenega companies, Chenega Defense & Aerospace Solutions (CDAS) was developed with the purpose of providing expert Engineering and Technical Support Services to federal customers. 

The Senior Analyst shall provide assistance in identifying communication innovations; improving messaging synchronization and collaboration; and leveraging public media best practices to senior officers on the Joint Staff.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in identifying communication innovations, improving messaging synchronization and collaboration, and leveraging public media best practices to senior officers on the Joint Staff.
  • Must have a strong grasp on matters of national and international interest under intense media scrutiny.
  • Work with JS to navigate political sensitivities, this includes Providing a running list of key congressional areas of focus related to the Joint Force with regard to anticipated congressional member interest, including questions that senior leaders would need to be able to field, assess the national security environment, geopolitical domains including situational understanding which based on experiences from the legislative and executive branches which enables the Joint Force to receive required support during command transitions, and Joint Staff Leadership testimony to congressional defense oversight committees, and Congress at large as required.
  • Testimony prep, which entails providing event-driven topics of discussion, Strategic Coordination, National Capital Region Situational Understanding, strategies for Congressional engagements, and Deliverables such as but not limited to Rehearsal story boarding, Drafting mock questions, Congressional Research, Executive Summaries of testimony prep sessions, Subject Matter Experts, Advice on Media Relations, and Requested brief findings.
  • Be available for phone calls, VTC, and/or in-person meetings on an on-call basis for event-driven topics regarding testimony prep, for example, a critical article released the day prior to a hearing. Provide a response within two hours of contact initiation. Testimony prep is predictable and shall be scheduled a week in advance, but event-driven advice shall not likely be planned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience providing communications support to sensitive and high-profile programs and topics, preferably with DoD.
    • Candidates must have experience working with the Joint Staff or providing advising assistance to senior leaders on the Joint Staff or in a joint manner through Combatant Commands
  • TS/SCI required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have expert knowledge, skill, and ability to write, edit, and revise documents that are tailored for the highest levels of the U.S. Government, including the President, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, the Homeland Security Council, four-star generals, and Congress.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and an eye for consistency with demonstrated success working in fast-paced and challenging environments.
  •  Must have knowledge about political agendas in the House and Senate that have DoD equities and have experience advising senior military leaders on the best way to communicate DoD equities throughout the interagency
