Summary About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade located in Fort Sam Huston, Texas. Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for administration and control of assigned Information Technology (IT) programs in the brigade with emphasis on Cyber Security. Develops, recommends, implements, and enforces command unique Cyber Security policies over existing IT resources in the geographical area of operations. Evaluates the efficiency of the Brigade Cyber Security capability and structure, recommending or effecting changes or redirecting resources as required. Maintains cognizance of network changes, equipment installation/ de-installation, upgrades and any other architectural changes implemented by the supported Network Enterprise Centers (NECs). Provides Cyber Security technical assistance to supported NECs for trouble-shooting networks and systems. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: Applying advanced IT cyber security principles to develop, interpret policies and planning projects; Advising management on IT problems and making recommendations to troubleshooting issues; Developing budgets, contracts and acquisition to develop proposals; Evaluating various operating systems and software packages that share information between different classes of system in there automation architecture.
