Responsible for assisting with the running and maintenance of the performance venues for productions, concerts and events.Job Duties
• Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks.• Set up lighting and audio equipment.• Unload and set up road cases.• Perform spotlight operation during shows.• Set up risers and musical equipment.• Assist with video, sound, and light production.• Work with electricians and lighting designers.• Help carpenters build and install scenery.• Operate fly rail.• Load weight on fly rail.• Clean-up and maintain stage and backstage area.• Run cabling and tape-out.• Operate sound, lighting and video boards and equipment.• Perform as run crew for productions.• Other duties as assigned.Qualifications•High School diploma or equivalent.•Stamina, to work long hours.•Ability to lift 25 lbs. waist high, and able to assist with set up for events as directed throughout shift.•Ability to move 50 lbs. of equipment.•Ability to climb steps repeatedly.•Ability to descend/ascend ramps and inclines/declines.•Ability to stand for long periods of timeWork in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting.•Ability to bend, stretch, reach and kneel without restriction.•Ability to safely climb and perform duties on ladders.•Ability to work at heights and work on catwalks.•Ability to listen and follow instructions.•Knowledge of stage directions and theatrical and venue terminology.•Experience working with electrical equipment and power tools•Awareness of health and safety legislation and procedures for electrical safety, lifting and handling, disposal of hazardous waste, etc.•Ability to remain flexible and adaptable.•Ability to work effectively, safely and collaboratively with a range of different departments.•Possess excellent communication skills.•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.•Possess common sense and perception.•Ability to be punctual and dependable.•Ability to remain calm under pressure.•Possess knowledge of Samford and the university's values and culture.
