Job DescriptionOBJECTIVES:The Global Investigative Toxicology team is a cross-functional team of scientists that aim to detect and de-risk toxicity in Takedas portfolio to help make medicines safer and more effective. We are looking for a Research Associate Scientist to support these efforts across small molecule, biologics and cell therapy platforms. The Research Associate Scientist will contribute ideas and deliver decision-making data to inform design and prioritization of drug candidates.Work as part of a global team of safety assessment scientists to detect and de-risk toxicities associated various modalitiesDesign and implement early safety assessment screening strategies to enable the progression of optimized therapeutic candidatesConduct cell-based

in vitro

assays to characterize immune-mediated toxicities for medicines in discovery & developmentDevelop novel

in vitro

model systems to assess safety risks associated with new therapeutic designs

ACCOUNTABILITIES:Develop, design, execute, and interpret

in vitro

cell-based assays to characterize diverse mechanisms of drug candidatesMaintain cultures of immortalized tumor cell lines, primary cell types of various origin (lung, liver, kidney, intestine, pancreas, etc.), and primary immune cells (T cells, B cells, NK cells, etc.)Perform fit-for-purpose

ex vivo

analyses to assess phenotypic and functional correlates of toxicityPrepare experimental protocols, analyze experimental data, and present study results in team and department meetingsContribute ideas to drive innovation within investigative toxicology and with key collaborators (e.g. pharmacology, DMPK, bioinformatics)Document experimental methods and findings in electronic laboratory notebookEDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:MS. with 3+ years or BS with 5+ years of experience in immunology, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related discipline.Expert with standard aseptic cell culture technique, including experience culturing various tumor cell lines and primary cells.Broad experience with cell-based functional assays, including cytotoxicity, cytokine release, and proliferation assays. Experience with flow cytometry is highly preferred.Basic experience with molecular biology techniques including RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR, western blotExperience working in a matrixed team environment at a pharmaceutical company and/or CROBroad scientific knowledge in immunology and pharmacologySelf-motivated with strong time management and organizational skillsAbility to balance multiple projects and flexible with changing prioritiesHighly collaborative with demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed team environmentExcellent oral and written communication skillsLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Routine demands of an office based environment.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to travel domestically and internationally,Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary

For Location:Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:$96,600.00 - $151,800.00The estimated salary range reflects
