Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and success of our civil construction projects. This role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to monitor project finances, analyze costs, and provide valuable insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis to assess project profitability and identify potential risks or opportunities.
- Provide regular reports on project financial performance, including variance analysis and cost trend analysis.
2. Cost Management:
- Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Review and approve project-related invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
- Identify cost-saving initiatives and recommend strategies to optimize project costs.
3. Project Accounting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project accounting records.
- Allocate project costs to appropriate cost centers and accounts.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
4. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits.
5. Contract Management:
- Review project contracts and ensure alignment with financial objectives.
- Monitor contract terms and conditions related to billing, payments, and change orders.
- Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to resolve contractual issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting or financial analysis, preferably in the civil construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (SAGE) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and cost control techniques.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools.Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools.Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.May be exposed to loud noise.Job Benefits:
