Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics Job Specialty: Respiratory Therapist Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM Guaranteed Hours: [To be provided] Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: [To be provided] Certifications: BLS, NRP, NBRC Must-Have: Proficiency in pediatric respiratory care Job Description: - Administer medicated aerosol therapy using small volume nebulizers, breath-actuated nebulizers, and vibrating mesh nebulizers. - Educate patients on aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapy, including use of DPI, MDI with holding chambers, and Pentamidine Administration. - Manage medication carts, Omnicell, and barcoding medication administration systems. - Perform a variety of airway clearance therapies such as clapping, vibration, directed cough, PEP and oscillatory PEP, hyperinflation therapy, high-frequency chest wall oscillation, IPV, acoustic airway clearance, and cough assist. - Provide airway management including suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, and intubation assist. - Oversee assisted ventilation, mechanical ventilation, ventilator system checks, CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV, negative pressure ventilation, and initiation and management of NAVA. - Engage in high-risk deliveries involving surfactant administration, NRP protocol, and T-piece ventilation. - Conduct blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation. - Administer humidity therapy using heated humidity, aerosol masks, trach collars, T-pieces, and face shields. - Follow clinical practice guidelines for asthma care, CF care, RDS management, BPD prevention, and HFNC protocol. - Participate in respiratory care consult service and nitric oxide protocol monitoring. - Monitor patients using pulse oximetry, peak flow meters, capnography, ventilator graphic interpretation, and conduct overnight or continuous pulse oximetry and capnography studies. - Perform spontaneous breathing trials and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring. - Manage patient transport including HFNC portable unit, T-piece ventilation, MRI, internal with assisted ventilation, and neonatal rapid response team. - Provide oxygen and special gas therapy using nasal cannulae, oxygen masks, high flow nasal cannulae, oxygen tanks, blenders, analyzers, inhaled nitric oxide calibration, and troubleshooting, sub-ambient oxygen, and Heliox therapy. - Clean and maintain equipment as needed. Unit Description: Work in areas including Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Pediatric Cardiac ICU, Trach/vent unit, Emergency Room, General Respiratory Care, and Women’s Respiratory Care. Collaborate with attending doctors, fellows, APPs, PAs, NPs, hospitalists, resident providers, nursing, and other disciplines.
