This position will in office at our corporate headquarters located in New Braunfels, TX.
The Accounting Manager, with a focus on Quality Control, will manage the daily hotel accounting operations while ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate, compliant, and in accordance with GAAP. This role involves developing and implementing quality control procedures, monitoring adherence to these controls, and continuously improving the accounting processes to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies.
Essential Position Category: Daily Operations Management
Monitor the daily operations of the hotel accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
Preparation & Filing of Occupancy Tax Returns
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support of the daily reconciliations of hotel expenditures and transactions
Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting
Monitor adherence to internal controls
Review periodic audits of hotel reconciliations prepared by the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls
Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during the hotel reconciliation process
Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues that affect the accuracy of financial records
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Essential Position Category: Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting
Analyze financial statements, reports, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
Assist the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget, providing variance explanations
Essential Position Category: Policy Development
Assist the controller to develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance the department's efficiency and effectiveness.
Identify potential risks associated with hotel reconciliation processes and develop strategies to mitigate them
Support the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Monitor and enforce compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and accuracy within the accounting department
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience
Certifications: Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Net Suite) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred, including the ability to create complex formulas, and analyze large data sets
Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
